Community Development

In 1960, with grit, determination, and one rubber-tired Ford tractor, J Elder’s Father and Grandfather founded RG Elder. They began digging basements around the Des Moines area with J’s Father as the tractor operator, and his Grandfather worked hard to expand the business.

Today, Elder Corporation literally lays the groundwork for some of the biggest excavation projects in Iowa. There is no mountain too high to move and no pipe too deep to lay. Our success is a testament to all of the hard work and dedication poured into the company since its inception.

While our company continues to grow and evolve, one thing has never changed: Elder has a great foundation, great equipment—and, most importantly, great people.
