2025 LIVE HORSE RACING AT PRAIRIE MEADOWS
Guests of all ages are invited to experience the excitement of live horse racing in Altoona, Iowa at Prairie Meadows. The season begins with thrilling Thoroughbred-only races and transitions to an action-packed mixed meet, featuring both Thoroughbreds and Quarter Horses competing daily. Fans can enjoy the energy and speed of live races from trackside or take in stunning panoramic views from Level 4 inside the grandstand. Located just minutes from Des Moines, Prairie Meadows is central Iowa’s premier destination for live horse racing, offering unforgettable moments and free, family-friendly entertainment all season long.
Live racing takes place four days a week:
- Fridays & Saturdays – Post time at 6PM
- Sundays & Mondays – Post time at 4PM

AJ’S STEAKHOUSE – A MEMORABLE DINING EXPERIENCE
Father’s Day Dining

CAFÉ AT THE MEADOWS – JUNE DINNER SPECIAL

Indulge in a flavorful penne pasta with shrimp, sausage, and a creamy Cajun sauce, and served with a house salad. Don’t miss out on this delicious June Dinner feature. Be sure to also take advantage of their weekly $13 lunch specials, offered Monday through Friday.
The Café at the Meadows is open Sunday – Tuesday, 7am – 8pm, Wednesday and Thursday, 7am – 2pm, and Friday and Saturday, 7am – 9pm.
