“Off the Menu” is an Altoona restaurant feature sponsored by Elder Corporation.
There’s an old saying that goes: “Everything is bigger in Texas.”
You’ve definitely heard it before. But what about the special adaptation of this phrase that some geniuses (totally not us) came up with recently?
It goes a little something like this: “Everything is bigger at Texas Roadhouse in Altoona.”
If you haven’t, now you have! And all corniness aside, it’s a true statement. We’ll give you a quick rundown of Texas Roadhouse’s legendary menu, traditions and vibe to show you what we mean. Watch the video and keep reading to learn more!
Legendary food & drink menu
Here to introduce Texas Roadhouse’s mouthwatering menu is Joel Smits, Managing Partner of the Altoona franchise location.
Talking about the restaurant’s most well-known specialties, Joel said, “Our hand-cut steaks are number one. Everybody loves our hand-cut steaks. Our fall-off-the-bone ribs are another menu item that people really come for.”
“All of our sides and dressings are made from scratch. We make them every day and we’re very proud of that,” he said. “And of course, our fresh-baked bread is tough to beat!”
Already feeling hungry? Well, then you better saddle up because there’s a lot more where that came from. Texas Roadhouse has a real (you guessed it) Texas-sized menu!
The restaurant has all sorts of delicious Texan and Southwestern eats to choose from, from burgers and sandwiches to chicken, pork, fish, combo platters, appetizers, desserts and more! And they’ve got a bunch of specialty cocktails plus a wide variety of beers, wines, and even flavored lemonades to quench your thirst, too.
Exciting atmosphere, one-of-a-kind traditions
Though there’s an abundance of delicious food and drink to try here, Texas Roadhouse isn’t just a place to sit down and eat. It’s a place to hang out, catch the big game, jam out to your favorite country tunes, and so much more!
Things get even more exciting if you’re there to celebrate something, especially a birthday. If you haven’t witnessed or experienced firsthand the joy of a Texas Roadhouse birthday saddle ride, you really should. We highly, highly recommend it.
Oh yeah, did we mention that they also do line dancing? Because they do. That’s something you don’t see every day!
Much like us, Joel thinks that this is pretty special. He said, “It’s fun, entertaining. We got music playing…And it’s just it’s something that nobody else does!”
Why Altoona?
Plenty of potentially great restaurant locations exist in the Des Moines metro area. So, why did Texas Roadhouse pick Altoona?
Speaking about the franchise’s decision to do business in our city, Joel said, “The location is perfect. The proximity to the interstate is fantastic. There’s lots going on out here, Altoona is a growing community…We thought it was really a no-brainer to have another Texas Roadhouse here.”
Texas Roadhouse is already a crowd favorite
Joel was totally right when he said that opening a Texas Roadhouse location in Altoona was a no-brainer. Word on the street is that it’s already a crowd favorite!
When asked about how things have been going, Joel said, “The community has shown so much support to us. We’ve been busy from the minute we open the doors. Sometimes, even before we open the doors, people are trying to come on in.”
“And the reception we’ve had from not just Altoona, but all the surrounding communities has just been amazing. It’s been awesome,” he said.
Not to sound too pretentious, but Altoonians know a thing or two about steakhouses. If we give a place a thumbs up, it’s the real deal. And you better believe Texas Roadhouse has received plenty of thumbs up so far. It’s a BIG hit!
Stop by sometime and see what it’s all about. You’ll be glad you did!
